Legit! I had a HAIRCUT!
not just a haircut, but a HAIRCUT!
and I’m very satisfied with it.

For context, I have the typical straight, stiff asian hair (some calls it “porcupine hair”). I’ve spent my whole life searching for the right cut. I’ve been to countless barbers and stylist, and sometimes they get it right, but often not. Even when the cut is good, the names vary from crew cut, buzz cut, mohawk and yet they never look the same from place to place. With 30+ years of existence, eventually, I gave up. With my receding hairline, it became even harder to find a style that worked for me, so I wore a cap most of the time. I’d always ask barbers to cover it, but they usually failed.

That’s why I feel compelled to write this review, because I think I finally found the place and the haircut for me. Honestly, I was moved 🥹. It feels like I can bring my confidence back.

This was my first visit to Pundok Studio. I chose to visit because It’s close to where I live, just a short walk, and maybe fate too. Because, I messaged three other shops, but only they replied. The shop itself is clean, they serve complimentary drinks, and even have candies for you to eat while you wait.

During the cut, I was hesitant at first. I’ve been to expensive places before where the service and results were disappointing. But Sir Angelo asked me what I wanted, so I showed him a photo of one of my better past cuts and explained my usual concerns about my hairline. Right away, he noticed I always keep my sides buzzed to about 1 cm and analyzed that undercut fits me.

At first, it seemed like the usual process. But then came the part that surprised me. Sir Angelo carefully balanced the volume on top which I don’t usually experience with other stylist. Normally, my hair grows flat on top while the sides stick out like porcupine quills, making my head look wider especially when in full volume. He adjusted the length so the top didn’t collapse against my scalp, and the sides blended naturally.

Even more impressive, he handled my bangs with precision. I have an M-shaped receding hairline, and most stylist cut from the top, accidentally removing the hair that covers it. Sir Angelo understood this problem. Instead of cutting blindly, he trimmed only the extra length in the middle, keeping the coverage intact.

The result? Truly satisfying. No visible M-shaped hairline. I can truly say I had a HAIRCUT! one that fits me, respects my hair’s quirks, and restores my confidence. Thanks again Sir Angelo!
